Truly a remarkable product, no lag whatsoever and instant connectivity. Blazing speeds and amazing coverage, no more dead spots in my house.

However, when I first installed the router, my old 2005 Windows XP laptop could not connect to the router. After the firmware update, it connected instantaneously! WARNING: MUST DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE UPDATE FROM dlink.com! Instructions are also posted on website under the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Other than that, a fantastic product and I would recommend it to anyone!

After what I am sure was some type of firmware or hardware failure, my replacement DIR-857 is up and running flawlessly. I'll give it five stars when the firmware is working better.

I upgraded to Firmware version 1.01 (released about 2 days before this review update) before setting up the router. The speed is incredible, but there are still some issues, which I'm sure will be addressed with future firmware updates:

1) The SD and USB port streams movies flawlessly. I wasn't able to get a USB hard drive (Western Digital) to work, but my 16 GB USB stick worked very well. I was able to access the USB stick remotely through the internet (non-LAN connection) using the Admin account. I was unsuccessful in creating another user account, so for now, the admin account must be used to log into the "YourIP:8181" port. My Windows 7 machine could not map the USB Drive or SD Card to upload any files. I had to do it a single file at a time through the... Read more

I purchased this DIR-857 to replace a Netgear WNDR3700. The Netgear works pretty well, but suffers from wireless range issues.

My setup: Comcast business class internet, 4 wireless Foscam IP cameras (2.4ghz), a micro PC running DVR software (wired), 2 XBOXes (5ghz), a Roku (5ghz), an Apple TV 3 (5 ghz), a Synology NAS (wired), several laptops, desktops, iphones/ipads, and tablets.

My requirements: Dual band, excellent wireless range, allow simultaneous XBOX Live connection (open NAT) with 2 XBOXes, QOS prioritization for XBOX and video, allow NAT loopback for accessing my DVR LAN-side, FAST WAN/internet throughput, and rock-solid, stable performance.

The dual XBOX issue works out of the box with UPnP turned on. The virtual server setup allows NAT loopback (port forwarding does not). I have only had this camera for a week but I am in love! This is my second Tough camera. My first was the 1030SW and it was a phenomenal camera! I was sad it got water logged after several years of use. I'm pretty sure it was my doing too, not a malfunction in the camera. I replaced that camera with the Panasonic Lumix TS10 and really do not like that camera. Feel free to read my review of it to learn why.

*FYI - I'm not a professional photographer and I'm sure more technically minded people will have different opinions about small technical things.

This newest Tough TG-820 is awesome. The display screen is large and extremely clear. It's like watching a mini-HDTV. I really like the video button since it is so easy to switch between photo and video. I have a toddler so this feature makes it easy to capture quickly the various silly things he does on a daily basis. I like most everything about this camera. However, what I don't like is pretty glaring. First, the likes. Picture quality is a lot better than previous models of this camera. Great waterproof and "drop-proof" capability. Cool options and features. Now, the bad. The buttons make it VERY difficult to view pics and change modes on the first try. It's inconceivable that Olympus can make such advancements in this camera and let it go to market with this glaring weakness. It kind of reminds me of one of those old appliances that has buttons that barely work but you're hesitant to spend the money to replace it! Well, you get this from the get-go with this camera. It's too bad. Also, the battery life is way too short for a camera like this.

This is one Fantastic little camera, I was afraid it would be bulky but its not, its pocket friendly with a very comfy shape to grip. I am a photography hobbyist, not a professional by any means and I was seeking a good camera to take out on my Geocaching adventures, without fear of breaking it. Though I have only had this camera a few hours, in just testing it out I am amazed at the photo quality. The HyperCrystal Viewer in the back makes looking through your photos easy, the bright colors are very easy to see in the sunlight. I haven't seen any issues with glare. the buttons are easy to maneuver and scroll with. It takes fantastic shots of my pets, getting a picture of them, actually sitting still is almost impossible. All I could get where blurry, movement blobs. I took this camera outside with them and for once I have some extremely cute photos of my pets running around that are crystal clear!

Now I have not tried "All" the features as of yet, I haven't thrown it... Read more
